Today, I want to share an important aspect of data security i.e. securing or password protecting your confidential files. This article is about how to secure your confidential files and information and what are the problems that you may face related to security and privacy in general.

As we all know very well that a personal computer is the perfect place for the hackers and spy wares who just wanted to know what we have stored in our PCs. They want to sneak into our computers and try to steal our valuable information like credit card numbers, bank accounts information or any thing else which they find useful for them, so that they could use it illegally and take advantage from it to spoil our reputation.

For some people money is every thing but there is another type of people who are being paid to hack into our operating systems and get some valuable and important information that can be used to destroy our reputation and to provide us harm. I am pretty much sure my readers get my point

For some intruders money is not everything, they also want to snoop into your system to get your information; to use your hard disk space or your internet connection so that they will be able to hack into other machines also. These types of nasty guys know very well that the more computers they use the more difficult it would be for the law agencies to get them and furthermore they cannot be prosecuted easily.

Some Useful Tips to Secure Your Computer:

Just for an instance, imagine that if you want to secure you house, how you would make it secure that no thief, robber or safecracker may enter your house, for this purpose you would first secure your door with a chain lock then will lock the windows and before going to sleep you ran a security check to make sure that your house is locked and secure completely.

Now apply the same theory to your computer, you lock your computer windows with a password, then to secure your system you install different security applications like anti-viruses, anti-hacking file encryption software, password locking protection application and data protecting software to maximize the security level of your personal computer.

I would recommend these applications you ought to install because these applications and software not only protect your confidential data and valuable information from getting misused but also protect your operating systems from viruses and spy wares.

You can very easily find the best security applications which are available on the internet. Just Google the words like "best anti-virus", "folder lock", "data locking software", "file lock" and Google search will get back you a good list of these security applications.

Hey Mark, great article. As a PC repair tech I would also recommend using a program called True Crypt. It is a completely free open-source disk encryption program that I use to create hidden virtual drives to store my important data.
